Life-Impacting Symptoms of Complex PTSD | The Mighty

This is an excellent article about Complex PTSD symptoms. It is important to know that time and therapy, within a supportive environment, can bring healing in all of these areas. Post traumatic growth is a goal everyone with CPTSD can set for themselves… I will look for more stories and articles on growth and share them with you.

Does anyone have their own growth experience to share?

  1. Wow! This made sooo much sense! In particular her introducing me to the terms “somatic flashbacks” and “emotional flashbacks” gave me handy phrasing to describe the very limiting and quality-of-life reducing aspects that I experience on a 24/7 basis. In particular the somatic ones as well as the brutal somatic response from my body to those moments of intense-to-barely-manageable emotions have brought about a situation of not being functional any longer.
And for the brighter outlook and path to more healing: I find it important to read, hear and experience every now and then that even with those largely brutal symptoms there are not only bad moments, but a few good ones here and there and to be reminded of the possibility of change for the better/healing. To me it’s become a vital aspect of my journey to become aware of situations and experiences that foster those “sweet spots” and then further the healing process by actively seeking those “triggers of comfort” and weaving them into one’s daily routines as much as possible.
Thank you for sharing this article and introducing me to Lilly Hope Lucario and her excellent writing! xxoooo to you, w.
(P.S. Guess, I’m gonna go ahead and share your blog then…? Would that be o.k.?)

  2. Yup, found him on Soundcloud. Talented man! Uhm, I’d hate to be a nuisance, but it appears as if the link at the bottom of your video caption has a redirect loop in it. I have attempted to “tweak” the URL so that it might link to the content you had meant to link to, but to no avail so far. Just sayin’… as other users/visitors might run into the same phenomenon. (I have found that it’s safer to open the linked-to content in a separate browser tab, then copying the entire URL from the browser’s address bar and then coming back to the text that’s supposed to be the URL and apply the URL from the clipboard; if not, the URL might get augmented by the “leaving page’s” URL, thus inadvertently creating a loop back to where the visitor came from. Again: Just sayin’)

      2. P.S. On a different note: On the spur of the moment I started translating her article into German. And yikes, I’m finding that absorbing the info in English is much quicker and less prone to errors in interpreting it than it is in German. (Or maybe I’m just making a very elaborate statement of nothing else than being a very poor interpreter… 😀 )

      3. Lol! I was never really good at translation. I never really got to be conversational in any other language though. It would be great if you could publish the article in German with her!
